Questions about this policy or your information can be sent to our Information Officer at info@geanigold.co.za or 082 068 2626.
2. What information we collect
We only collect what we need to respond to you and deliver our work. Depending on how you deal with us, this can include:
- Enquiry details: your name, surname, email address, contact number, the area you are based in, the size of the space, the service you are interested in, and any message or photos you send us.
- Project details: site address, plans, measurements, quotations, orders and payment records if you become a customer.
- Communication records: emails, calls, WhatsApp messages and site-visit notes.
- Website usage data: your IP address, device and browser type, the pages you view, how you arrived at the site and how you move around it. This is collected through cookies and similar technologies.
3. How we collect it
- Directly from you, when you complete our quote form, email, phone or message us, or meet us on site.
- Automatically, when you browse our website (see "Cookies and tracking" below).
- From our advertising and social media pages, if you respond to an ad or send us a message there.
4. Why we use your information
- To answer your enquiry, arrange site visits and prepare quotations.
- To carry out our contract with you: planning, building, installing, invoicing and aftercare.
- To keep records and meet legal, tax, building-regulation and warranty obligations.
- To understand how the website is used, keep it secure and improve it.
- To measure and improve our advertising, and to show our ads to people who may be interested in our work.
- To contact you about our services where you have asked us to, or where the law allows it. You can say no at any time.
5. Our legal grounds
We process personal information where you have given your consent, where it is needed to take steps at your request or to perform a contract, where the law requires it, or where it is necessary for our legitimate business interests and does not unfairly affect your rights.
6. Cookies and tracking
Our website may use cookies and similar technologies to work properly and to understand how it is used. These can include Google Tag Manager, Google Analytics, Google Ads, the Meta (Facebook) Pixel and Microsoft Clarity. They may collect information such as your IP address, pages viewed, device details and the way you interact with the site, and some may record sessions to help us improve the website.
You can block or delete cookies in your browser settings. You can also use the opt-out controls offered by these providers, for example Google Ads Settings and Meta ad preferences. Blocking some cookies may affect how parts of the site work.
7. Who we share it with
We do not sell your personal information. We share it only where needed, with:
- Service providers that help us run the website and our business, such as web hosting, email, analytics and advertising providers.
- Subcontractors, suppliers and installers, to the extent needed to carry out your project.
- Professional advisers, authorities or courts, where we are required or permitted by law.
Some photos on our website are loaded from a third-party gallery service, which may see your IP address when the images load.
8. Sending information outside South Africa
Some of the providers we use store or process information outside South Africa. Where this happens, we take reasonable steps to make sure the information is protected in line with POPIA.
9. How long we keep it
We keep personal information only for as long as we need it for the purposes above, including to meet legal, tax, warranty and record-keeping requirements. After that, we delete it or make it anonymous.
10. How we protect it
We take reasonable technical and organisational steps to protect personal information against loss, misuse and unauthorised access. No online system is completely secure, so we cannot guarantee absolute security.
11. Your rights
Under POPIA you may ask us to:
- confirm whether we hold personal information about you, and give you access to it;
- correct or delete information that is inaccurate, outdated or no longer needed;
- stop using your information for direct marketing, or object to other processing; and
- withdraw consent you have given, without affecting what we did before you withdrew it.
To make a request, contact us at info@geanigold.co.za. We may need to confirm your identity first. If you believe we have not handled your information properly, you can complain to the Information Regulator (South Africa) at inforegulator.org.za. We would appreciate the chance to resolve it with you first.
